Can I store whole vegetables & whole heads of lettuce in the Salad Sac?

Yes, you can store whole vegetables and whole heads of lettuce all together in the Salad Sac.

Just wash all your veggies and store them in the Salad Sac. The Salad Sac will go very damp. This is what you want as the moisture in the damp Salad Sac will keep all your veggies fresh.

For example, you can store broccoli, cauliflower, celery, whole green onions, beans, whole heads of lettuce and fresh parsley and fresh dill all in the same Salad Sac and flavors will not transfer. Try all your veggies!

How do I launder the Salad Sac?

The Salad Sac is very easy to clean. Machine wash and dry with regular kitchen towels. No fabric softener please!


Should I launder the Salad Sac before I use it the first time?

Yes, you should launder the new Salad Sac before using it to ensure that it is clean before coming in contact with your food. Machine wash and dry with regular load of kitchen towels. No fabric softener please!


Should I wet the Salad Sac first?

You should not have to wet the Salad Sac before using. The Salad Sac will absorb all the moisture from your washed vegetables. The Salad Sac will go very damp. If you should notice that the Salad Sac is not very damp, then you could just splash a little water on the outside of the bag. The dampness is very important in keeping your veggies fresh!

Do you recall seeing all the produce in the grocery store being sprayed with water? They are actually keeping the produce fresh and alive longer. The same principle applies with the Salad Sac surrounding your veggies in a damp environment in the refrigerator.


Can I store bananas in the Salad Sac?

Yes, you can store bananas in the Salad Sac .

Keep BANANAS SEPARATE from other food and store in a cool area of your kitchen. DO NOT STORE in the REFRIGERATOR.

Do not mix bananas with other fruit or produce as bananas produce a lot of ethylene gas that will rapidly deteriorate any other fruit or vegetables nearby. The Salad Sac slows down the ripening process of bananas, so if you put green bananas in the Salad Sac, they will keep 9 to 12 days approximately; they will ripen slowly so you will have bananas ready to eat every day when you want them.

The Salad Sac should be laundered after storing bananas. Just machine wash and dry with kitchen towels. NO FABRIC SOFTENER!


Where should I store the Salad Sac in the refrigerator?

The Salad Sac can be stored on any shelf in your refrigerator or in the crisper drawer. The Salad Sac is very versatile as it bends and moves to fit any area of your refrigerator. Just keep in mind that the Salad Sac should not be stored near any meat, poultry or fish etc.

Do not store the Salad Sac near apples in the refrigerator as apples create a lot of ethylene gas that can destroy any produce or other fruit very rapidly. Apples should be kept separate from all other produce.

Apples can be stored in the Salad Sac by themselves in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator; the apples will keep for approximately a month with this method.


Can I store apples in the Salad Sac?

Yes, you can store apples in the Salad Sac . Just be sure to store apples separately. The apples are best kept in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator in the Salad Sac. They will last for approximately a month with this method.

The reason apples should be kept separate is that they produce an excessive amount of ethylene gas which will rapidly deteriorate any other fruit or vegetable.

Please be sure to launder your Salad Sac after storing apples or any fruit. You want to make sure that your Salad Sac is clean before you use it for any other vegetables and fruit. Machine wash and dry with regular load of kitchen towels. NO FABRIC SOFTENER!


Can I store grapes in the Salad Sac ?

Yes, grapes are fantastic stored in the Salad Sac , just wash your grapes and store in the Salad Sac in the fridge. They will go very crisp and stay fresh for about a week or more. Just remember fruit should be stored separately from vegetables. Store the grapes by themselves and be sure to launder the Salad Sac after storing any fruit (No fabric softener).
